With the removal of DVD playback facility in Windows 8 and Windows 8 pro, playing your DVD using media player is no longer possible as it was costing Microsoft around $2 per licence to just provide that utility.
DVD playback facility was there in Windows 7 but removed in the later versions of the operating system. Now if you want to play your DVD in your computer running Windows 8 then either you have to buy a licensed software or download an open source media player.
